Plank, Charles
Charles Plank, 76, of Columbus Junction, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Colonial Manor in Columbus Junction after a brief illness with cancer. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. Pastor Al Coffin will officiate. Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery. Visitation for Chuck will be Friday, July 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction.
Memorials may be directed to the Columbus Community School FFA Scholarship Program or the Iowa State University Ag Scholarship Foundation in memory of Chuck.

He was the founder of Plank Implement in Columbus City, Iowa in 1963 and over the years sold several brands of farm equipment and provided service to those machines. In 2009, he sold the business to Bennett Farm Equipment and it became Plank Equipment. Chuck remained on the job as sales person until June of this year. He was a widely known and respected businessman in these 50 years.
Charles Edward Plank was born April 21, 1937, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Dorothy (Childs) Plank. He spent his childhood on the family farm in Quasqueton and attended K-12 at Quasqueton. He graduated from Iowa State College in 1959 and worked for International Harvester as a credit representative until going into business for himself. He married Connie Scotton and they reared three children in Columbus Junction. Jodie married Ben Morin; Shawn married Susan Patterson; and Andrew married Susan Boyngton. There are six grandchildren.
Chuck was active over the years in several organizations: the Community Club, JAYCEES and Bowling leagues. He and his wife were honored by being named parade marshals for both Columbus Junction's Columbus Days and Columbus City's 125th anniversary parade.
Chuck was predeceased by his son-in-law, Ben Morin; and his son, Andrew.
He is survived by his grandchildren, Emma and Kate Morin of Storm Lake, Sam and Tom Plank of Urbandale and Zachary and Brennan Plank of North Liberty; one brother, LeRoy and wife Vicki Plank of West Des Moines; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Vaage and husband Birger of Heggedal, Norway.
