Clarence J. Pins, 93, of 103 Second Ave. SW, Farley, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010. at 9:05 p.m. at his home. Friends and relatives of Clarence may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, where a wake service will be held at 4 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7 p.m. Services for Clarence J. Pins will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Clarence was born May 1, 1917, in Bankston, Iowa, son of William and Sylvia (Schmitt) Pins. He was a graduate of St. Clement's High School in Bankston. On Sept. 18, 1941, he was united in marriage to Catherine Hoefer at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley. He farmed in Farley until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley and Farley Knights of Columbus Council 2001.

Clarence was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and admired and respected by all.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Pins of Farley; four children, Ron Pins of Des Moines, Dianne Beilstein of West Des Moines, Carolyn Schlichte of Marion and Jerry (Julie) Pins of Farley; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marilyn (Bill) Beyer of Epworth and Donna Goerdt of Dyersville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Ashley Pins, who died Dec. 26, 2007; two brothers, William Pins and Laverne Pins; and one sister, Elaine Goedken.
