Phylliss Peterson of Winterset, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017. She was 89. A private committal will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choosing and online condolences may be directed to the family at www.ochiltree.com.
Phylliss Peterson, daughter of Dean and Fern (Dickerson) Smith, was born Nov. 2, 1927, in Beaconsfield, Iowa. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids. Her marriage to Ray Ingels took place in 1946. After his death, Phylliss married Merle Peterson on Nov. 22, 1957.
She was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids and attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset. She was a homemaker and was an avid card player.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Dennis Peterson of Kansas City, Mo., Bob (Wendy) Ingels of Puyallup, Wash., Bill Ingels of Cedar Rapids, Lesley Hawkins of Ames and Sheri Anderson of Overland Park, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Phylliss was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Ray and Merle; two brothers; and two sisters.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff and nurses at West Bridge Care and Rehab and HCI Hospice for the special care they have shown to Phylliss and her family.
