Phyllis J. Weeks, 74, of Marion, went to be with the Lord Friday, May 23, 2014, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Per her wishes, there will be no services. A private family inurnment will take place at Garrett Cemetery, Delta, Iowa. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include her sons, Steven (Billye) Weeks of Marion and Randy (Carla) Weeks of Independence; grandchildren, Jeremy (Aimee) Weeks of Waterloo and Christina Weeks of Independence; and aunt, Martha Jean Lisk of Sigourney.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Marcena Leathers; and her grandparents.
Phyllis was born Feb. 2, 1940, in Delta, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Marcena (Tanner) Leathers. She graduated from Delta High School and worked for many years at King's Material Inc. in Cedar Rapids in accounting. Phyllis liked to cook and bake and enjoyed crafting. She had a special fondness for horses, loved Christmas and Iowa Hawkeyes basketball. She was known as "Ma" to many of Steve and Randy's friends and was always willing to participate in any of the kids' activities, especially their Sunday night softball and basketball "pickup" games.
