Phyllis Mae Mussman, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Sept. 30, 2021, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services and burial will be held at a later date. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Phyllis is survived by her son, Tim Mussman of LaVergne, Tenn.; daughter, Deb (Joel) Gerrits of Madison, Wis.; and grandchildren, Jonah and Joshua Gerrits.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and brothers, Pat, Bill and Mike.
Phyllis was born Nov. 1, 1936, the daughter of Leo and Bernice Freeman Cannon. She graduated from St. Mary's School, Iowa City and Iowa City Commercial College.
On Sept. 3, 1960, she was united in marriage to William Mussman at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Iowa City. Phyllis worked at Allied Graphic Arts and at FMC in their Print shop for many years. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas and taught religious education for many years. She also served as a Scouts Den Mother.
Phyllis loved to read mysteries and write poetry. She enjoyed playing games on her computer, crossword puzzles and tole painting.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
