Phyllis Joan Stoddard, 92, of Hiawatha, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Hiawatha Care Center. Funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa, with Pastor John Albertson officiating. Visitation will follow from 4 to 6 p.m. A private family burial will be held at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Phyllis was born on April 11, 1932, the daughter of Otho H. and Margaret L. (O’Farrell) Baker. She was a 1950 graduate of Franklin High School. On August 1, 1953, Phyllis was united in marriage to Donald L. Stoddard at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a homemaker and worked in the toy department for Armstrong's Department Store. Her family was the most important thing to her. Phyllis will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Phyllis is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Mary J. Schroeder of Cedar Rapids; son, Denny J. (Jan) Stoddard of Marion; sister, Betty (Jerry) Donaldson of Plainfield, Illinois; grandchildren, Nathan (Ruth) Schroeder of Cedar Rapids, Melody (Tim) Frank of Bettendorf, Iowa, Amy Schroeder of Hiawatha, and Connor Stoddard of Marion; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and one nephew; and special friends, Paul and Marlene Smith of Cumming, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald L. Stoddard; and son, David J. Stoddard.
