PHYLLIS IRENE OCHELTREE

Phyllis Irene Ocheltree, 93, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Matthew's Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, with an hour visitation prior to Mass starting at 9:30 a.m. Inurnment will be at a later date. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is caring for Phyllis and her family.
Phyllis Irene Weichman was born on April 6, 1925, the daughter of Emerey and Ethel (Farrell) Weichman. She graduated from Newhall High School in 1942. She married Donald E. Ocheltree June 17, 1947, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Newhall. She worked nine years at the Cedar Rapids Gazette office and Cedar Rapids Community School Food Services for 17 years. Phyllis was a member of St. Monica Circle and St. Matthew's Church. She enjoyed sewing, refurbishing antiques and made the best rhubarb pie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Carol; and two sisters, Gail Stoecker and Joyce Beatty.
Left to cherish Phyllis' memories are her two sons, Gary (Isabelle) of Eloy, Ariz., and Craig (Evelyn) of Mason City, Iowa; grandchildren, Scott (Katie) of Carmel, Ind., Tim (Maria) of Yuma, Ariz., Eric (Megan) of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Matthew of Altoona; great-granddaughters, Dori and Emery of Carmel, Ind.; and sister, Royella Lauterwasser of Newhall, Iowa.
