Phillips, Martha F.
Martha F. Phillips, 95, of Spring Lake, Mich., formerly of Ely and Solon, passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at St. John Lutheran Church in Ely. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Brosh Chapel in Solon.
Martha was born July 15, 1916, in Ely, the daughter of Frank J. and Libbie (Zvacek) Krob. Martha married John Phillips on June 1, 1937, in Tipton. He passed away on Nov. 6, 2007. She had lived in Spring Lake the past three years coming from Mesa, Ariz.
Martha was a bookkeeper for the Grain Elevator business that was owned by her husband and his three brothers-in-law. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church n Mesa, and former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Ely and the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Iowa City.
Martha is survived by her loving family, Carol (Dan) Scanlan of Grand Haven, Mich., and Sandra (Michael) Albaugh of Visalia, Calif.; five grandchildren, Nicole (Tim) Tiefenbach, Stacey Scanlan, Stevon (Kim) Freiberg, Sean (Candace) Freiberg and Shane (Sarah) Freiberg; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Buresh of San Diego, Calif.; and a brother, Norbert (Mary Ruth) Krob.
Martha was preceded in death by her daughter, Catherine Sue; and two brothers, J. Victor Krob and Robert Krob.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Ottawa Community, 18525 Woodland Ridge Dr., Spring Lake, MI 49456; or the American Legion Auxillary in Solon.
