Phillip T. Eggers, 64, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away due to throat cancer, (carcinoma of oropharynx) on October 12, 2025, at Heritage Specialty Care in SW Cedar Rapids.
Phil was born on January 15, 1961, at Mercy Hospital and was employed over the years in several labor, manufacturing and machinist roles that took him to Colorado, Texas, Illinois and locally. Phil was married to Cheryl Entwisle in 1985 but later divorced. Phil was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. He also enjoyed hunting, motorcycles and going to car shows. He was huge Chrysler. Plymouth, Dodge fan and loved his ’69 Plymouth GTX. Phil was always willing to provide mechanical advice related to the classic MOPAR’s.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, James A. Eggers (Morarie) and Doris E. Fuegen, his younger brother, Dan, and grandson, Cash Copeland. He is the oldest of four children.
He is survived by his daughter, Samantha (Matthew) Copeland; grandsons, Cyrus Eggers, and Waylon Copeland all of Clarence, Iowa; sister, Paula Guirrussio of Ft. Worth, Texas; and brother, Doug Eggers of Cedar Rapids.
A graveside service will be held at Linwood Cemetery in the New Founders Addition at 520 Wilson Avenue SW in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 1pm. His younger brother Dan, who passed away in 2018, will also be laid to rest in the same service.
