Philip J. Kibler, 90, of Moline, Ill., died Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline.
There will be a visitation with family and friends at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline, on Friday, Sept. 22, at 1 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. Per his wishes, the body will be cremated, and there will be a
private burial at a later date.
Philip John Kibler was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Aug. 25, 1927, to George T. and Frances J. (Cronbaugh) Kibler. He graduated with the Class of 1945 from Marengo (Iowa) High School and then attended the University of Iowa. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from Oct. 1, 1945, to Feb. 26, 1947, in Japan.
Philip was employed in the Railway Mail Service and then in the Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Post Office, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of East Moline American Legion Post 227, East Moline-Silvis AMVETS Post 145 and the Croatian Club.
Survivors include a son, Daniel Kibler (Diana Hobson) of Amana, Iowa; grandchildren, Morgan F. Kibler of Coralville, Iowa, and Austin J. Kibler of North Liberty, Iowa; a sister, Elizabeth Stanerson of Williamsburg, Iowa; and his longtime special friend and caregiver, Cheryl Aitken.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George B. Kibler; and a twin sister, Phylis Mary Kibler Shedenhelm.
