Philip Joseph Smith, 63, died Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, at his home in Van Horne.
Private family graveside services will be held at the Keystone Cemetery.
Philip was born July 31, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, to Edward R. and Doris (DeBurn) Smith. He lived in Colorado and Arizona for several years before returning to Iowa. He worked as a mechanic, cable installer and master printer, for the majority of his life. Philip loved to work on "Hot Rod" vehicles and enjoyed fishing. He could figure out how to fix anything electronic.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edward J. Smith and Thomas R. Smith; infant nephew, Aaron Smith; and longtime companion, Janit Carey.
He is survived by his sister, Janet Smith of Newhall; nephews, Jarod (Carrie) Smith of Blairstown and Thomas (Abby) Smith of Atkins; great-niece, Anessa Smith of Blairstown; and many cousins.
