Pfeifer, Rose Mae
and Patrick Thomas and wife Lily, and sister, Nancy Clah, all of Gallup, N.M.; and 15 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Tehebah (Yazzie) Thomas; and 10 brothers and sisters.
Rose was born June 6, 1948, in Two Wells, N.M., and came to Cedar Rapids from Santa Ana, Calif., in 1969. She married Leonard L. Pfeifer on Sept. 17, 1970, in Hiawatha. Rose had been employed at Wilson & Co. Meat Packing Plant from 1969 to 1975 and later worked at Swift Meat Packing Plant in Marshalltown until 1996, when she took early disability retirement. She was a member of Full Grace Ministries in Cedar Rapids and a former member of the Mormon church.
Rose enjoyed making silver Navajo jewelry and along with her family, formed the “Navajo Nightstalkers” and performed in more than 100 shows, educating audiences about the Navajo culture and traditions.
A memorial fund has been established in Rose's name.
