Pfeffer, Evelyn Mary Magdeline Eveland
Evelyn Mary Magdeline Eveland Edmunds Pfeffer, better known as Mary by friends and family, Oma by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, formerly of Cedar Rapids, left this world to her place in heaven on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010. She was a devout Christian of the Lutheran faith and attended All Saints Lutheran Church in Huntsville.
Mary raised four children of her own and four stepchildren when she remarried after the death of her first husband, James R. Edmunds of Cedar Rapids. Major William J. Pfeffer, Ret., and Mary married in February 1964, raising their children together in Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by James R. Edmunds, William J. Pfeffer Sr.; her parents, Elsie Eveland and Ernest Eveland; son, David A. Edmunds; brother, Robert Eveland; and sister, Effie Eveland.
Survivors include daughters, Susan Edmunds and John Leasher of Somerville, Ala., and Kathy Emanual and husband Bill of Cedar Rapids; son, Jerry Edmunds, also of Cedar Rapids; stepchildren, William Pfeffer and wife Marlena of Texas, John Pfeffer and wife Patti of California, Michael Pfeffer and wife Terri of Florida, and Carol O'Neill and husband Bill of Iowa; a sister, Pearl Hart of Cedar Rapids; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
