Peyton, Kleon Kenneth
Kleon Kenneth Peyton, 70, of Coggon, died Monday, August 23, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 27, 2010, at United Parish Church in Coggon by Pastor Jennifer Filter. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City. Burial: Coggon Cemetery, Coggon, with military rites by the American Legion Post No. 362.
Survivors include his children, Darrin Peyton of Cedar Rapids, and Rani (Brett) Lange of Leawood, Kan.; two grandchildren, Hannah and Ethan Lange; a brother, Keith (Patsy) Peyton of Coggon; stepmother, Helen Peyton of Coggon; and a special friend, Joyce.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Don Peyton.
Kleon was born in Coggon on July 29, 1940, the son of Frank and Lelah (Long) Peyton. He served in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966. On July 6, 1968, Kleon was united in marriage to Doris Clute in Manchester. They later divorced. Kleon owned and operated Peyton Heating and Cooling for over 35 years. He was a lifetime member of The United Parish in Coggon.
Kleon was a valued member in the community. He did things the right way … once. If he did work for you, he made you feel at ease and ensured you knew what he was doing. Kleon was a friend to all and will always be remembered for the stories he told.
