Petz, Audrey Alberta
Audrey Alberta Petz, 87, died Wednesday, August 3, 2011. at Mercy Iowa City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 6, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Williamsburg. Father Joseph Roost will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg, with a rosary at 3 p.m.
Audrey was born April 22, 1924, in Holyrood, Kan., the daughter of Raymond and Hulda (Perdue) Smith. On July 1, 1939, she was united in marriage to Edward John Petz in Bowling Green, Missouri. They lived in Kansas, Missouri and moved to Williamsburg in 1942. She was a seamstress for many years. Audrey was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Williamsburg, and a former member of St. Mary's Altar & rosary Society. She cleaned the church for many years and made the baptismal bibs for baptisms.
She is survived by her children Duane (Barb) Petz of Iowa City, Lyle (Brenda) Petz of St. Augustine, Fla., Annette (Nick) Smith of Frisco, Texas, Connie (Bob) Richards of Iowa City, Denny Petz of Davenport, Rick Petz of Williamsburg, Joe Petz of Williamsburg, Angie (Craig) Cochran of West Branch and Dave Petz of Williamsburg; 32 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Viola Dukes of Springfield, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, a son, James; one 1 grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and a brother.
A general memorial fund has been established.
