Petrick, Joseph
PRAIRIEBURG - Joseph Petrick, 86, of Prairieburg, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, at Mercy Hallmar Residential Care in Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairieburg, by the Rev. Wayne Droessler. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City, where a Scripture service begins at 7 p.m. Burial: St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Prairieburg.
Survivors include his wife, Leonore; 10 children, Linda (Douglas) Peet of Cedar Rapids, Elaine (Dennis) Fayhee of Paris, Ill., Nancy (Donald) Shields of Cedar Rapids, Susan (Merle) Recker of Gillette, Wyo., Jane (Leland) Loux of Sac City, William (Toni) Petrick of Diamond Head, Miss., Richard (Christina) Petrick of Evansdale, Kenneth (Cinda) Petrick of Anamosa, Ronald (Kathy) Petrick of Martelle and Carol Hewitt of Cedar Rapids; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Wesley (Anna May) Petrick of Manchester; sister, Rose (George) Mullis of Central City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; half brother, Clarence Ruley, half sister, Agnes Amos; brother, Thomas Petrick; sisters, Lillian Shover and Josephine Smith; and a grandson, Benjamin Petrick in infancy.
Joseph was born Oct. 30, 1923, near Prairieburg, the son of Joseph and Anna (Lawrence) Petrick Sr. On Oct. 11, 1945, Joseph was united in marriage to Leonore Holub at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Prairieburg. He farmed most of his life in the Prairieburg area. Joseph enjoyed fishing, playing cards, mushroom hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
