Peterson, the Rev. Rohn D.
The Rev. Rohn D. Peterson, of Taftsville, Vt., formerly of Anamosa, passed away peacefully on the morning of Feb. 17, 2010, following an extended battle with cancer. Memorial services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at First Baptist Church, Lebanon, N.H. Ricker Funeral Home & Crematory of Lebanon, N.H., is handling the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Roland); his four children, Lanae, Mary, Geoffrey and Rohn Peterson II; five brothers, Chris, Jim, John, Jory and Leif; and two sisters, Layna Norkin and Caroline Mallery.
The Rev. Peterson graduated from the University of Sioux Falls and North American Baptist Theological Seminary of Sioux Falls, S.D. He also earned recognition as a Fellow by Penn State University as a graduate of the Rural Pennsylvania Leadership Development Institute.
The Rev. Peterson's Christian ministry spanned over 30 years, serving Trent Baptist Church in Trent, S.D., and the First Baptist churches of Anamosa, Iowa, Eau Claire, Wis., Kittanning, Pa., and Brookville, Pa. In addition, he served as vice president of development for the Upstate Home for Children in Oneonta, N.Y., and executive vice president of Development for Central Baptist Children's Home in Lake Villa, Ill.
The Rev. Peterson was creator and managing partner of ARKY hot air balloon which won the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta Special Shapes Rodeo and was selected as best special shape for two consecutive years.
The Rev. Peterson was creator and president of WWJL, an FM radio station established to serve the community of Brookville, Pa. Perhaps his most creative effort was to broadcast a program featuring a performing mime.
Most recently, the Rev. Peterson served the American Baptist churches of Vermont and New Hampshire as associate and acting executive minister. During this time he provided leadership in organizational restructuring and future development.
