Peterson, Marilyn R.
Marilyn R. Peterson, 78, of Marion, formerly of Bettendorf, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2010. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids by the Rev. Dr. T. Edwards Breed and the Rev. Cindy Ford Breed. Visitation will be held after 9 a.m. at the church. Burial: 3 p.m. Wednesday, Davenport Memorial Cemetery, Davenport. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include her children, Robert (Debra) Peterson of Lilburn, Ga., Lisa (Dennis) Roan of Washington, Ill., Mary (Kees) Bronts of Cedar Rapids, Hap (Barb) Peterson of Iowa City and Ann (Ken) Beem of Marion; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Sawicke of Houston, Texas; an aunt, Dolly Dahms of Las Vegas, Nev.; and her beloved dog, Maggie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Patricia.
Marilyn was born July 2, 1932, in Dallas, S.D., the daughter of Conrad and Mary Katherine (Elliott) Krieger. On Feb. 7, 1953, she was united in marriage to Howard G. Peterson in Grand Island, Neb. Howard died Aug. 25, 1998. First and foremost was her love for her family. Her devotion was caring for them and giving to others. In addition, she was an avid quilter, painter, a volunteer at Bettendorf High School, and at her churches.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Marilyn's memory.
