Marilyn A. Petersen, 80, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, June 4, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
She was born Aug. 3, 1931, in Cedar Rapids, daughter of Newell and Agnes Schwartz Lowe. She married Holger Petersen on July 6, 1952, in Cedar Rapids.
Mrs. Petersen earned a BA degree in business from Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) in 1953. She taught in Orange Township for a year, and then was substitute teacher for typing and business classes in the surrounding area. She later taught business at Hawkeye Community College, retiring in 1983.
Survivors include her husband of Cedar Falls; two sons, Steven (Susan) and William (Dee); two daughters, Christine (Bradd) Draheim and Susan (Alan) Ruschill; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Mae Lowe; and one grandson.
Services 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Service in Cedar Falls and one hour before services Saturday at the church.
