Petersen, Elmer 'Jake' Raymond
Graveside services for Elmer “Jake” Raymond Petersen, 97, of Tipton, who died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, will be held Saturday, Feb. 27, at noon at the Tipton Masonic Cemetery, with Pastor Lisa Dietrich officiating. A visitation will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon before the graveside service at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton.
Elmer “Jake” Raymond Petersen, son of Harry and Hazel Petersen, was born Jan. 25, 1913, in Rock Island, Ill. He was united in marriage to Luva Jean Beaver on Feb. 28, 1940. Jake was a farmer and a jack-of-all-trades.
Jake is survived by his wife, Luva Jean Petersen of Tipton; daughters, Rita Harbaugh and Marsha Armitage, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; son, Glenn Petersen of Waterloo, Iowa; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and brother, Cecil Petersen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Jake.
