Peters, Elmer R.
Elmer R. Peters, 75, of Bettendorf, formerly of Tipton, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, in the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf from complications of cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tipton. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton.
A memorial for cancer research has been established in Elmer's memory.

Elmer Roy Peters was born on Feb. 18, 1936, in Bellevue, Iowa, and was the son of Alfred and Elda Wagener Peters. Elmer attended Jackson #9, a one room school, near Andrew, Iowa, and later graduated from Andrew High School. Elmer was united in marriage to Marcia Ann Roeder on Oct. 9, 1956, in Bellevue, Iowa. Elmer was an electrician as well as the past owner of Maquoketa Electric Motors and founder of Tipton Electric Motors. He was a past member of the Tipton Lions Club and the Marco Island Sport Fishing Club.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Marcia of Bettendorf; daughter, Margo (Tom) Weih of Tipton; sons, Glen (Heather) Peters of Lisbon, and Brad (Trish) Peters of Davenport; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Lucille Deppe of Maquoketa; and his brother, Floyd (LaVonne) Peters of Bellevue.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; and infant brother, Glen; and his brother-in-law, Allen Deppe.
