Peter Shawn Hoy, 65, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024, at his home. A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Peter was born February 27, 1959, to Bernard and Patricia (Davis) Hoy in Cedar Rapids. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. Peter gave over thirty-five years of service to the city of Cedar Rapids Streets Department. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved the time he spent with family. Peter was genuine and spoke the truth, good or bad. He was very generous and was always there if you needed help. He will be missed by those who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Shawn (Marla) Hoy, Ryan Hoy, Zachery Everts, and Chloe Hoy; grandchildren, Izzabelle Hoy, Kylena Hoy, and Brienne Hoy; siblings, Michael Hoy (Pam Jensen), William Hoy (Lynn Cahill), Margaret Hurst; along with many nieces and nephews.
Peter is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Deborah Williams, Mary Hoy and Anna Hoy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
