PETER "PETE" A. RUDISH JR.

Peter "Pete" A. Rudish Jr., 67, of Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017,
at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 4, at First Assembly of God, Cedar Rapids, conducted by the Rev. Rick Gail and the Rev. Brad Singleton. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date.
Pete is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joyce, of Mount Vernon; daughter, Nicci (Mike) Weber of Independence; son, B.J. (Katrina) Rudish of Solon; grandchildren, Matteaha and Gage West and Jaxon, Logan and Tate Rudish; sisters, Jan (Gary) Schuch of Central City, Jackie (Joe) Svoboda of Leesburg, Ga., Connie (Steve) Luker of Anamosa and Andrea (Kelly) Stick of Baton Rouge, La.; and brothers, Johnny (Patti) Rudish of Anamosa and Mike (Tracey) Rudish of Whittier.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Penny Gustoff.
Pete was born Jan. 21, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Peter A. and Zona (Robison) Rudish Sr. He graduated from Springville High School in 1968. Pete served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. On Nov. 20, 1971, in Springville, he was united in marriage to Joyce Ann Bebber. Pete worked at ADM Corn Sweeteners in Cedar Rapids until retiring in 2007. He was a member of First Assembly of God and the Mount Vernon American Legion.
A memorial fund has been established in Pete's memory.
