He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Pete was born July 13, 1961, in Long Beach, Calif., the son of David and Wilma (Middle) Henderson. He was raised on the family farm in Central City, Iowa, graduating from Central City High School in 1979. Immediately following high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps, being honorably discharged in 1983. Pete married Rhonda Coghlan on Aug. 18, 1984, in Cedar Rapids. They later divorced. Pete worked in the heating and cooling field for several years. Later, he worked in construction and held many handyman jobs. He was an incredibly hard-working man and was very talented with his hands.
Pete was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish, morel mushroom hunting and deer hunting. He also was an active frisbee disc golfer in the Cedar Rapids area.
Pete was at his best in the company of small children. It was then that the playful/goofy part of his personality would appear. He would do whatever it took to make a baby smile or a toddler giggle.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorials can be made to the family.
