Peter Alfred Wilcox, 45, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on January 20, 2026. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2026, with a visitation one hour prior to the service, St. Matthew Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Peter’s family would like to thank the VA Hospital in Iowa City, for the tremendous care he received in Iowa and in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses that helped Peter throughout his life.
Peter was born on October 25, 1980, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, the son of Mark and Vicki (Nath) Wilcox.
Peter served honorably in the United States Army from 2004 – 2019. He mobilized to Fort Hood, 2005 – 2007. His overseas deployments were Iraq 2008 – 2009, Afghanistan 2009-2010 and 2015 - 2016. He served in multiple Army Reserve units receiving multiple awards throughout his career and ending his career at the Armed Forces Reserve Center, Cedar Rapids in 2019. His civilian military technician job started in Cedar Rapids at the Armed Forces Reserve Center 2007 as a GS5 with him revealing his talents to his superiors and was quickly promoted to GS 10.
Peter is survived by his mother, Vicki Nath; dog, Domingo; many loving aunts, uncles, cousins; army comrades, and close friends.
Peter was preceded in death by his father, Mark Wilcox, paternal grandparents, Ray (Loretta) Wilcox; maternal grandparents, Grandma Joey “GJ” Nath, and Ron Nath; aunt, Barb Wilcox; uncle, Duane Richardson, and dog, Midas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Veterans Resource Center, 3117 1st Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52403. They need bread, deli meat (ALDI), hamburger, and canned chicken.
