"Pete" Donald Hayes, 56, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 6, 2022, at his home.
Pete was born Oct. 30, 1966, in Indiana, to Charlotte Graybill and Donald Hayes. Pete grew up in the Rompot area of Cedar Rapids. Pete enjoyed racing at Cordova, hunting for mushrooms, salvaging and spending time with his friends.
Pete is survived by his mother, Charlotte Graybill; brothers, Phil (Marylynn) Hayes and Steve Hayes and sisters, Julie Kimm and Denise (Keith) McGowan as well as their families.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Laura Davis; stepfather, Bill Graybill; and longtime companion, Pam Hansen.
A gathering will be held in the spring during mushroom season in remembrance of Pete. A private burial will take place at Rogers Cemetery.
