Penrod, Scott Thomas 'Scooter'

Scott Thomas “Scooter” Penrod, 48, of Swisher, died Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 2 p.m. Friday, May 4, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Chaplain Bobby Dickerson. Family will greet friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial: Lisbon Cemetery, Lisbon, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Rhonda; two brothers, Douglas Penrod of Davenport, and Kenneth Penrod of Kansas City, Kan.; one sister, Tracie Homewood of Cedar Rapids; many nieces and nephews; brother and sisters-in-law; many friends and co-workers; and a beloved dog, “Bear.”

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Scott was born April 29, 1964, the son of Quenton and Faye Herdliska Penrod in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Scott graduated from Prairie High School in 1982. On June 18, 1994, he married Rhonda Butteris in Shueyville, Iowa. Scott worked construction for 30 years. Scott enjoyed The Dallas Cowboys and playing cards. He was a very compassionate person who loved animals and loved life.

A memorial fund has been established in Scott's memory.
