Peiffer, Irene Florence

Irene Florence Peiffer, 93, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at the Manor House in Sigourney, Iowa.

She was born Feb. 26, 1919, to Nicholas and Thecla Halter Scheetz near Cosgrove, Iowa. She graduated from Cosgrove High School. She lived at home helping to raise the family. On Oct. 23, 1945, she married Bernard Michael Peiffer in Cosgrove. They lived and farmed in the Harper area. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and later Holy Trinity Parish and Altar Rosary Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard on Dec. 4, 2001; four sisters, Evelyn Clark, Anna Shannon, Viola Volk and infant sister, Betty Jean Scheetz; four brothers, Paul, Cletus, William and Raymond Scheetz; and cousin, Bill Edwards.

She is survived by her children, Jane (Gene) Bragg of Iowa City, Robert (Karla) Peiffer of Iowa City, Joyce (Jay) Rosenberger of Indianola, Tom Peiffer of Harper, Joe (Sally) Peiffer of Davis, Ill. and Pat Peiffer of Harper; six grandchildren, Chris, Laura, Jerry, Michael, Mark and Megan; one great grandson, Kinnick; and cousin, Bob (Mary Ellen) Edwards, who grew up as part of her family.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday Holy Trinity Parsh, St Mary Catholic Church in Keota. Prayer Service: 4 p.m. Sunday, Holm Funeral Home, Sigourney, where friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial: Holy Trinity Cemetery St Elizabeth Cemetery, Harper, Iowa.

A memorial fund has been established.
