Pederson, Joseph S.
Joseph S. Pederson, 85, of Monticello, died Thursday, May 27, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the United Church of Monticello. Rev. Ed Moreano will officiate. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello, where military honors will be accorded.
Joe was born July 13, 1924, in Wabasha, Minnesota, the son of Alfred J. and Sara Mae (Sutton) Pederson. He graduated from Columbia University in Missouri through the Cadet Training Program. Joe served in the U.S. Air Force from 1942 until being honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of corporal.
Joe married Mary A. Coberly on May 2, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Joe and Mary have their Amway business based from their home in Monticello.
Joe is survived by his wife, Mary; four daughters, Mary Jo Koch of Monticello, Chris (Vern) Steffen of Racine, Wisconsin, Katie (Jim) Bronemann, Lisa (Dennis) Freitas, both of Monticello; and a son, Cass Pederson of Monticello; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren;
He is preceded in death by two sons, an infant son, Joseph, Jr., and Neil; and two brothers.
