Pedersen, Stanley Christian

Stanley Christian Pedersen, 82, of Springville, died Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Springville, by the Rev. Tony Kruse. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion, where a vigil will begin at 5 p.m. Inurnment: Springville Cemetery, Springville.

Survivors include three children, Anne and Jim Pedersen, both of Springville, and David (Jacinda) Pedersen of Iowa City.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

Stan was born April 28, 1929, in rural Martelle, Iowa, the son of Chris and Verda (Peek) Pedersen. He graduated from Springville High School in 1946. Stan served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On Sept. 21, 1959, he was united in marriage to Norine F. Wagner of Cedar Rapids. She died Dec. 27, 2005. Stan farmed most of his life in the Springville area. He also did carpentry and maintenance for several area banks, including Exchange State Bank in Springville.

Stan was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church. He enjoyed working outdoors, especially tinkering in his machine shed.

Stan had a gentle, easygoing manner, and he will be fondly remembered as a good friend and neighbor and a loving husband and father.
