Peasley, Yvonne June
Yvonne June Peasley, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, 1221 First Ave. SW, where visitation will be from 3 until 7 p.m. Sunday, with a Scripture and sharing time at 5 p.m. Burial will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Hazleton. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Hamlett of Las Vegas, Nev., Nancy (Charles) Lahr of Manchester and Nevada and Becky Robinson of Hiawatha; four sons, Randy and Larry Robinson of Oelwein, Gregory “Spock” Robinson of Cedar Rapids and Danny Robinson of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Leon (Patsy) Baskerville of Independence; and a stepdaughter Vione Beck of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are five grandchildren, William Malone, Jessica Howorth, Melissa Robinson, Rana Schulmeister and Kathleen Lahr Rider, nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Marianna Kelchen.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her husbands, Loyd and Ernest; parents; a brother, Leroy; and two great-grandsons.
Yvonne was born near Earlville, Iowa, the daughter of George and Amelia Baskerville. She graduated in 1948 from Oneida High School. After her marriage to Loyd Robinson, they farmed many years north of Masonville and raised seven children. She later worked and retired from the Mental Health Institute in Independence as a psychiatric aide. After retiring, Yvonne spent countless hours volunteering, especially with Mount Olivet Mission in Cedar Rapids.
She loved to cook, enjoyed talking with her numerous friends, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and listening to country music.
A memorial fund has been established.
