Pearlie Ann Griggs, 76, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at her home. Homegoing services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at Redemption Ministries, located at 701 25th St. NE, with Bishop Robert L. Green presiding. Burial will be in Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Pearlie was born Feb. 18, 1941, in Montgomery, Ala., the daughter of Joe E. and Mary F. (Wilson) Jones. She married Willie McCall Sr. in Montgomery. He later passed away. Pearlie married Leo Griggs on Dec. 12, 1999. She worked at Quaker Oats for 28 years. Pearlie was very active in the community and state, volunteering at the museum, for the American Heart Association and for prison ministry. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. Pearlie enjoyed cooking, walking, gardening and fundraising.
Pearlie is survived by her husband, Leo Griggs; children, Joyce Bryant and Willie McCall Jr., both of Cedar Rapids, Tony (Marsha) McCall of Texas, Tyrone (Theresa) McCall of Davenport and Gary McCall of Des Moines; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Virginia Gee; and her brother, Johnny (Diantha) Powell of Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Elnora Robinson, Louise Ingram, Dollie Gibson, Dorothy Sears and Clara Lee Jones.
