Pearl LaVonne Van Voltenburg passed away Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at English Valley Care Center in North English at age 83.
Pearl was born Feb. 9, 1932, in Monticello,
Iowa, the daughter of Aubrey and Eunice (Grover) Appleby. She graduated from Monticello Public High School in 1950. On Nov. 29, 1950, Pearl was united in marriage to Ralph Leonard Van Voltenburg in Iowa City. She worked for Country Lane for 10 years, retiring in 1986.
Pearl was a member of Kinross Christian Church, Red Hats and Ladies Group at Kinross Church. She enjoyed gardening.
Pearl is survived by four children, Jerry Van Voltenburg of Kinross, Ronald (Sharon) Van Voltenburg of Grinnell, Sue Proenneke of Stockport and Diana Toomer of South English; 10 grandchildren; 25 great- grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Bemrose of Monticello.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995; parents; grandson, Chad Van Voltenburg; and sister, Audrey Lloyd.
Celebration of Life service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. Burial will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Hill Cemetery in Anamosa. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established for Kinross Christian Church.
