Pearl Martin, 97, a lifelong resident of Mount Vernon, passed away on Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, at Hallmark Care Center, Mount Vernon. Private family funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon. Burial: Mount Vernon Memorial Cemetery.

Survivors include her children, Sue Votroubek of Tiffin; daughter-in-law, Karen; son-in-law, Darrel Dennis; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Pearl Mae Whitlatch was born Nov. 9, 1923, the only child of John and Blanche (Hartman) Whitlatch. She married M. Roy Martin. Pearl worked at Shepley Pharmacy (formerly Schutt's) for over 20 years, retiring in 1986. She was active in many organizations including past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and held several other offices. She was also a member of the Eastern Star Lodge and past Worthy Matron. She served as a Blue Lady volunteer at Iowa City Veteran's Hospital and volunteered many years at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Pearl was an active member of the Mount Vernon First Presbyterian Church.
Heaven has welcomed a special lady. Pearl was loved by her family and all who met her. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed greatly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; sons, Ronald "Ronnie" and Roger Martin; and daughter, Sandi Dennis.
