Pearl Marie Serovy, 95, of Solon, passed away on March 5, 2025, at the Hallmark Care Facility in Mt. Vernon. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, near Solon. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Solon will be assisting the family at this time.
Pearl was born on February 13, 1930, in Van Horne, the daughter of Merle and Philomena (Becker) Carlson. Pearl graduated from Vinton High School in 1948. Pearl married Allan Joseph Serovy on April 19, 1949, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Vinton. She worked at Play and Learn Day Care Center for many years. She enjoyed collecting rocks, fossils, and arrowheads on the Cedar River, baking kolaches and houska, going to garage sales, being active on the farm and most of all spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Pearl is survived by her children Lawrence (Judy) Serovy of Lisbon and Carol (Andrew) Fields of Solon; four grandchildren Andrew (Lisa) Serovy, Angela Burke, Joshua (Angie) Serovy, and Elissa (Nathan) Acuff; five great-grandchildren Madison, Mallory, Zach (Taylor), Logan (Kelsey), Slaten (Alexis); two great-great-grandchildren, Ellee and Blair; a daughter-in-law Terry Serovy of Iowa City; her siblings Dolores (Walter) Plotz, Edith Williams, Robert (Karen) Carlson, Mary Ann (John) Berry; as well as her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of sixty-seven years, Allan Joseph Serovy; two sons Michael and Ronald Serovy, her daughter Janet Serovy; grandson Quinn Fields, sister Mildred (Martin) Plotz; brother James Carlson; and a brother-in-law Roger Williams.
