Paulson, Garen 'Putsky'

Garen “Putsky” Paulson, 71, of Clarence, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, at his home. Memorial services: 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at the Clarence American Legion Hall, with Pastor Janet Shotwell officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in South Dakota. Arrangements with Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence.
Survivors include his companion of 25 years, Iola Bicknese; daughter, Kim Paulson of Eugene, Ore.; daughter, Marlo (Bill) Peterson of Pleasant Hill; sons, Kevin (Jill) Paulson of Solon and Galyn (Robin) Paulson of Roseburg, Ore.; stepchildren, Randy and Annette Bicknese of St. Louis; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; sisters, Shirley Holland of Lake Preston, S.D., Marjean Patzwald of Sioux Falls, S.D., Diann Stanley of Denver, Colo., Kay Kline of Bennett, Maxine Timmerman of Balaton, Minn., and Beverly Nelson of Fargo, N.D.; and brother, Gordon of Salina, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Shawn; brother, Roger; and sisters, Donna and Marilyn.
Born Feb. 22, 1940, in Petersen, Iowa, he was the son of Nels and Helen Myrtle (Warne) Paulson. Putsky had served in the National Guard and had worked as a truck driver and farm laborer. He enjoyed traveling and picking apples in Wisconsin. He also enjoyed canning.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
