Paulsen, Michael Scott
Michael Scott Paulsen, 53, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Celebration of Life: 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his children, Brett (Nicole) Paulsen and Melissa (Jason) Williams, both of Cedar Rapids, and Sarah (Derek) Hekel of Vinton; grandchildren, Jacob Paulsen and Lauren Oakley; father, Norman Paulsen of Anita, Iowa; siblings, Steven (Sandi) Paulsen of Anita, Debbie (Bob) Davis of Ankeny, Pam (Donald) Routh of Norwalk, Laurie (Jeff) Morrissey of Norwalk, Gary Paulsen of Cedar Rapids and Monty Paulsen of Anita; many nieces and nephews; and mother of his children, Angela Dague.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Verda (Haszard) Paulsen; niece, Jaime Paulsen; and his beloved dog, Norman.
Michael was born Nov. 5, 1959, in Atlantic, Iowa, son of Norman and Verda (Haszard) Paulsen. He was a hardworking son, loyal brother, loving father and a generous friend. He was always willing to go out of his way for those he loved and cared for.
Michael loved to be out on the water, whether it was fishing with his best friend and brother, Gary, or boating with his family. He could always make you smile. Michael especially loved his dog, Norman.
He worked as a laborer at Laborers Local 43 for 32 years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
