Pauline L. Witte, 98, of West Branch, died Jan. 21, 2015, at Crestview Nursing Home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence, by the Rev. John Cofield. Burial: Van Horne Cemetery, Lowden. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Born May 28, 1916, in Cedar County, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Anna Goedelmann Conrad, Pauline married Donald Witte on Sept. 25, 1938. He died in 1992.
Pauline attended the country school near her home and was baptized and confirmed at Peace Evangelical Church in Bennett. Pauline and her husband, Donald, farmed for 38 years, and afterward, retired to living in their farm home.
She was a past member of First Presbyterian Church and Martha Circle in Iowa City.
Survivors include her sons, Dennis (Susan) of Des Moines and Dale (Diane) of Indianapolis; daughter, Barbara (Bob) Roelf of Iowa City; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Conrad; and sisters, Selma Schroeder and Luverna Riedesel.
