Pauline C. (Marquardt) Grovert, 78, passed away peacefully at Heritage Specialty Care in Cedar Rapids on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
The visitation will be Monday, June 16 from 4-7:00 PM at The Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street), Vinton. A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday, June 17 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Nick Palmer officiating. The family invites you to a luncheon after the service. Burial services will follow lunch at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, rural Newhall.
Pauline was the daughter of Herman and Caroline (Gamm) Marquardt. She was born on the family farm in rural Arlington, IA on October 31, 1946. She graduated from Shellsburg Consolidated Schools in 1965. After high school she worked at Palo Savings Bank.
She fell in love with George Grovert. They married on September 14, 1969 at Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids. Pauline and George began farming together in the rural Shellsburg and Newhall area until George’s passing in 2023. They had two children, Paul and Lori, whom they enjoyed farming with for many years.
Pauline is survived by her son, Paul (Janet) Grovert; her daughter, Lori (Eric) Lang; her grandchildren Caroline and Morgan Lang, Jenna and Nora Grovert; two brothers, Martin (Setsuko) Marquardt of Salinas, CA, Roger (Rosemary) Marquardt of Marengo; and her sister Mary (Lon) Seeman of Newhall.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; husband George; and her sister Janice (Robert) Berridge.
