Paul R. Valliere, 88, a resident of Northbrook Manor, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at All Saints Catholic Church. The Rev. John R. Flaherty will officiate. Burial, with military rites: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where there will be a vigil service at 5 p.m., and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Frances; two sons, Michael (Marla) of Cedar Rapids and William (Janet) of Tempe, Ariz.; a daughter, Paula (Rick Wyrick) Valliere of Nashport, Ohio; and a brother, Richard (Liz) of Cedar Rapids. He also is survived by three grandchildren, Nicole, Michele and Mary; and six great-grandchildren.
Paul was born April 20, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Clarence and Mary Pospishil Valliere. He married Frances A. Doyle on April 7, 1951, in Albert Lea, Minn.. Paul was an engineer at Rockwell Collins for over 28 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a faithful member of All Saints Catholic Church, Officers Reserve Association, Knights of Columbus and proudly served in the Army during World War II.
Paul enjoyed traveling with Fran throughout the United States, building and flying model airplanes, playing golf and especially the time spent with his friends and beloved family.
His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial donations may be given to All Saints Catholic Church, Camp Courageous or a charity of the donor's choice.
