Paul J. Shebek, 84, of Riverside, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Atrium Village in Hills. A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 26, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside with Father Bill Roush and Deacon Derick Cranston officiating. Burial will follow at St. Vincent's Cemetery, west of Riverside. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 25, at the church. A memorial fund has been established for Atrium Village. Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Paul John Shebek was born Nov. 26, 1937, in Riverside, Iowa, the son of Walter and Celeste (Mellecker) Shebek. He graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in 1956 and enlisted in the United States Army, where he served until 1958. On March 19, 1960, he was united in marriage to Patricia Weeber. Paul worked 35 years at Rockwell Goss in Cedar Rapids, retiring in 1998. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening, working in the timber, square dancing, traveling to parks and just being outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Pat of Hills; four children, Tony (Suzanne) Shebek of Sharon Center, Randy Shebek of Lecanto, Fla., Richard (Julie) Shebek of Riverside, Iowa, and Julia (Jeff) Harper of Des Moines, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Mary Huffman, Pat Hamer and Fran Weber.
Preceding Paul in death were his parents and two siblings, Gertrude Shebek and Edward Shebek.
