PAUL KROGH
Lone Tree
Paul Anders Krogh was born Jan. 17, 1923, to Regina and Alfred Krogh in West Branch, and passed June 25, 2015, in Iowa City, Iowa. He and his siblings were the first generation of this particular branch to be born in America.
Paul's childhood was spent on various farms working and going to country school. Mon-umental changes were happening at this time; Depression, horses to tractors and World War II, they handled it all.
In 1947, Paul met the love of his life, Mildred Blum. They married Jan. 20, 1950, in Wellman, Iowa, and enjoyed the next 65 years together. They had two children, Paul Jr. and Deborah Ann.
On Nov. 27, 1947, Paul began working for Eastern Iowa Light and Power Cooperative, where he retired from in 1982.
Living in Lone Tree, Paul played his guitar for fun and they camped, fished, hunted and socialized. Alfred Krogh had co-founded Lodge 326 of the Danish Brotherhood, and Paul was a member for many years. Paul and Mildred also belonged to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepard in Wellman, where Paul was an elder, trustee and usher. They also went to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City.
In their later years, Paul and Mildred loved to take their grandchildren and great-grandchildren camping and boating.
Paul is survived by his wife, Mildred; son, Paul Jr. (Denise) Krogh; daughter, Deb (Jerry) Duder; grandchildren, JP (Heather) Krogh, Amy (Rush) Brentlinger, Tanya Peer, Mike (Amy) Duder and Michelle Duder; great-grandchildren, Max Krogh, Molly Krogh, Noah Brentlinger, Will Brentlinger and Zack Peer; and a sister, Betty Best of Decatur, Ill.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gunnar (Betty Mae) Krogh and Ernie (Charlotte) Krogh; sister, Elsie (Earl) Barnes; and brother-in-law, Roland Best.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 29, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City. Burial will be at a later date in Lone Tree Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Paul's memory to Iowa City Hospice.
Online condolences may be sent for his family through the Web at www.gayandciha.com.
Paul's family would like to thank everyone at Mercy Iowa City for their compassionate and excellent care they have provided Paul these last weeks. Also a heartfelt thank-you to Dr. Champion!
