Paul E. Fisher, 84, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids after an extended illness. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Pius X Catholic Church by the Rev. Phil Thompson. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial: Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Paul was born on Aug. 6, 1933, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Lucille and Paul Fisher Sr.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Phyllis (Kestel) Fisher; his six children, Deborah (Jeffrey) Jump of Cedar Rapids, Linda (Mac) Coffin of Burlington, Tom (Carolyn) Fisher of Burnsville, Minn., Susan Fisher (Arnoldo Harris) of Tempe, Ariz., Daniel Fisher of Mesa, Ariz., and John (Terese) Fisher of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Miasha and Julian Harris and Carys, Reid, Daniel Jr. and Avery Fisher; step-grandchildren, Jason and Ryan (Tamara) Coffin of Burlington; and a sister, Judy (Michael) Lynch of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Peggy (Cliff) Wells and Paula (Edward) McGuire.

Paul graduated from St. Mary's High School in Ottumwa in 1951 and later attended St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa. He relocated to Omaha, Neb., in 1953 to work at Mutual of Omaha Insurance Co., where he would meet the love of his life, Phyllis Kestel. The two were married in July 1956. In 1967, Paul, Phyllis and their young family moved to Cedar Rapids, where Paul began a 30-year career at Life Investors/Aegon USA, where he retired in 1997 as Vice President, Individual Division. He remained close friends with all of the members of Life Investors' "Class of '67" and enjoyed meeting with them regularly. He leaves behind a large extended family and many dear friends.

Most notably, Paul was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He served in leadership capacities on the St. Pius X church council and as a volunteer at St. Pius, where he and Phyllis were active parishioners for 50 years. He was generous with his skills as an executive, manager and business mentor, also serving extensively as an effective volunteer fundraiser for the United Way. Paul had a wonderful appreciation for sports, was an avid golfer, and was a true fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs.
