Paul Dwight Hoffman, 67, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, two days before his birthday, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Family will greet friends from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion, where a Funeral Service will begin at 1 p.m. Certified Celebrant Amy Hart will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.
Paul was born on Dec. 9, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Maynard and Rosetta (White) Hoffman. He was a 1974 graduate of Linn Mar High School. On May 10, 1986, Paul was united in marriage to Cathy Sue Prideaux in Marion. For 32 years, he was employed at Cryovac in Cedar Rapids, as a press operator until Paul became the business agent for Teamsters Local 238 and later retired. He was an avid and loyal die-hard Green Bay Packers fan, Iowa Hawkeyes fan, and Chicago Cubs fan. Paul also worked for and supported the Cedar Rapids Kernels. He never met a stranger and never said a bad word about anyone. Paul will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Paul is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Cathy Hoffman; sister, Virginia Emmert of Cedar Falls, Iowa; mother-in-law, Jeanette Prideaux; sister-in-law, Kathy Hoffman of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law, Mark (Debby) Prideaux of Marion; sister-in-law, Nancy Pinckney of Beaufort, S.C.; many nieces and nephews; and his two beloved rescue dogs, "Sweetie" and "Robbie".
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maynard and Rosetta Hoffman; infant daughter, Megan Rose Hoffman; two brothers, Merlin and James Hoffman; two sisters, Viola Fort and Fern McDermott; and father-in-law, Tom Prideaux.
Memorials in Paul’s memory may be directed to the family to be designated at a later time.
