Paul Dean Bohlken, 88, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Inurnment at Springville Cemetery in Springville, Iowa.
Paul Dean Bohlken was born on October 25, 1936, in Monticello, Iowa, the fifth son of Fred and Grace (Starks) Bohlken. He graduated from Monticello High School, University of Iowa and served three years in the United States Army. Paul married Diane (Lake) Troester on September 11, 1993. His life work was in the insurance industry for 43 years, and his past 23 years were with West Side Mutual in Palo, Iowa, retiring in 2005. Paul will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Paul is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Diane Bohlken; children, Nancy Haney of Marion, Patti (Darin) Cisar of Grand Junction, Colorado, Ruth Bohlken of San Marcos, California, John (Jackie) Bohlken of Springville; stepson, Curt (Kathie) Troester of Punta Gorda, Florida; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Donna Bohlken and Shelia Pilger, along with Diane’s family, Roger Lake, Marsha (Pat) Mescher, and Doris (Dave) Sherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Grace (Starks) Bohlken; one sister, Deloris (Clifford) Egger; four brothers, Fred (Vi), Harrison (Ella), Arthur, and Donald Bohlken; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harold and Dorothy (Geistkemper) Lake; stepdaughter, Roxanne Troester; and great-grandson, Payton Coe.
