Paul David Paulsen was born March 20, 1949, at Monticello, Iowa. He was the son of Paul Ernie and Evelyn Schoon Paulsen. Dave graduated from the Monticello Community schools with the Class of 1968. He married Nanci Sue Dietiker on June 4, 1970, at Peace United Church of Christ, Monticello. David started his working career at Cuckler Building with an on-the-job training class in 1967 while still in high school. He would retire from that same desk 47 years later in 2014.
Dave enjoyed fishing and hunting. When he was younger, he would look forward to Labor Day because that was when his Canadian fishing trip always was scheduled.
In the past few years since he retired, he would jump at the opportunity to drive Nanci to the grocery store, or Christmas shopping, patiently waiting in the parking lot. Dave enjoyed golf cart rides around town to check things out. He was a man with a heart of gold and gentle spirit. His wife "Lovie" and his girls, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his whole world.
