Paul E. Couser, 46, of
Cedar Rapids, died Monday, July 24, 2017, in Ottumwa. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Teahen Funeral Home by Pastor Bill Randles of Believers in Grace Fellowship. Friends may visit with the family from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Paul is survived by his cherished daughter, Rachel Couser of Marion; parents, Patrick and Rebecca Couser of Cedar Rapids; brother, Gregory (Marianne) and their children, Chad, Ethan and Madison of Rochester, Minn.; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Margaret Couser and Darrell and Doris Wever; and his uncle, John Couser.
Paul Edward was born March 6, 1971, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Patrick and Rebecca Wever Couser. He attended St. Jude Elementary and La Salle and Kennedy High schools, graduating from Kennedy in 1989. He married Heather Keil in 1994 in Sabula. They were later divorced. Paul attended the University of Iowa, graduating in 1994 with a B.A. degree in communications.
Paul was a person with varied interests including art, landscaping and traveling. He enjoyed walking trails and spending time outdoors. He will be most remembered for his wonderful smile and his kindness to others throughout his life. He demonstrated amazing strength during his three-decade fight with bipolar disorder.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
