Paul Carl Carroll, 62, of Rockford, Iowa, formerly of Ryan, died Friday, April 24, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City after a short illness.
He was born in Manchester on Feb. 19, 1953, the son of Francis and Helen (Knepper) Carroll. Paul graduated from West Delaware High School in 1971. For many years Paul was a long haul semi-truck driver. He most recently worked in the Rockford area.
He was known for his constant smile and was always up for a good game of cards. Family get-togethers were important to Paul. Some of his nieces and nephews called Paul "Santa Claus" because of his beard and jovial disposition.
Paul is survived by his mother, Helen Carroll of Manchester; his nine siblings, Barb (Jerry) Maxwell of Cedar Rapids, Bill (Rosemary) Carroll of Central City, Tom (Carole) Carroll of Dubuque, Jane (Tom) McNinch of St. Paul, Minn., John (Janet) Carroll of Granger, Mary (Jon) Hajek of Cedar Rapids, Marcia (Tim) Cooper of Phoenix, Ariz., Steve (Becky) Carroll of Marion and Greg (Pam) Carroll of Ryan; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Carroll; and a nephew, Peter Carroll.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Ryan, with the Rev. Joseph Schneider as celebrant. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 27, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home, Manchester, where there will be a 3 p.m. Scripture service. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church in Ryan on Tuesday. Interment: Calvary Cemetery, Ryan.
