Paul, Carol L.
Carol L. Paul, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died in her home Saturday, July 23, 2011. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel.
Survivors include her children, Teri (Kyle) Paul of Bluff, Utah, Steven (Carla) Paul of Center Point and Curtis (Gayla) Paul of Marion; and a grandson, Byrn Paul of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; an infant son, Gary; a brother, Bernard Gish; and a sister, Dorothy Kirkpatrick.
Carol was born July 27, 1929, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Lucian and Blanche Gish. She married Vernon L. Paul on Sept. 2, 1950, in Lisbon. Carol was a secretary for the Grant Wood Area Education Association and the Cedar Rapids Community School District. She attended Echo Hill Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Carol loved puzzles, was an avid reader and had a passion for crochet. One of her favorite things was meeting her friends in the Coffee Club for breakfast almost every morning.
She was a volunteer at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, loved spending time with her family and enjoyed family events.
Donations may be made in Carol's name to the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, the American Heart Association and PHN Ministries.
