Margaret Patricia "Patty" Neuhaus Flaherty, 93, of Woodland Hills, Calif., died Saturday, July 18, 2015, after a short illness. Gravesite services will be held privately for the family.
Patty was born in Davenport, Iowa, to Theodore and Ellen Neuhaus on March 20, 1922, but grew up in Fairfax. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids in 1939. Patty worked at George P. Haldy's Barber & Beauty Supplies for six years. She married Thomas Flaherty in 1948, then moved to California, where they raised their family in Van Nuys. Tom died in 1994.
Survivors include her children, Stephen (Bev) Flaherty of Simi Valley, Calif., Dennis Flaherty of Hesperia, Calif., and Maureen Flaherty, M.D., of San Francisco, Calif.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, David Neuhaus and Joseph (Cynthia) Neuhaus of Fairfax; sister, Ann (David) Thuerauf of Mount Vernon; brother-in-law, Frank Karal of Fairfax; and many nieces and nephews.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-law, Jan Flaherty; brothers, John Neuhaus and Theodore Neuhaus; and sister, Marie Karal.
Because Tom had worked for Technicolor, Patty last lived at the Motion Picture TV Fund Retirement Home in Woodland Hills, Calif.
